Lhamolhatso Lake,
is called "the Spirit of the Celestial Maid Lake" with
an altitude of 4000m, which is most legendary lake in
Tibet. It covers an area of one sq. km in oval shape.
The lake plays an important role in the reincarnation
system of Living Buddhas in Tibetan Buddhism.
Therefore the supreme homage from pilgrims comes to
the lake. It is said that the reincarnation clues for
every Living Buddha, like Dalai Lama or Panchen Lama,
is appointed to a senior monk to practice
divination by the lake and got a hint from the Heaven.
Nearby the lake are the large relics of architectural
complex of the Chokorgyal Monastery. |
