Yumbu
Lhakhang Palace is located on the Jormo
Zhaxi Ceri Mountain, about 5 km to southeast of
Nedong Country of Lhoka. "Yumbu" means a female
deer, because the formation of the Jormo Zhaxi
Ceri Mountain looks like a doe, and "Lakhang"
means the holy palace. The Yumbu Lakhang was the
first palace, which was first built by Nyatri
Tsenpo. the first Tibetan King at the beginning
of the 2nd century according to the legend.
Enshrined inside the palace are images of the
Three Periods of Buddha, Nyatri Tsanpo. Lha
Thotori Nyantse, Zhebajin, Songtsen Gampo and
Trisong Detsan, About 400m. to the northeast of
the Zhaxi Ceri Mountain, there is a famous
spring named "the Ger Spring which flows in a
ceaseless stream for four seasons (highly
respected by the locals). |
