Arrive Paro from Kathmandu by

02 |
Paro - Thimphu
This morning follow the winding road beside the Pa
Chu (chu means water or river) downstream to it's
confluence with the Wangchu then up valley to Thimpu
the capital then lunch. Afternoon visit the Memorial
Chorten (stupa), here the faithful circumabulate the
shrine. Overnight at Hotel. |

03 |
Thimphu - Sightseeing
A full day of sightseeing and shopping in Thimphu.
Wander in town, visit shops and the handicrafts
emporium. You may return to the hotel for lunch with
your guide and transport. Afternoon drive north up
the valley to Dechenchholing (residence of the Queen
Mother) to get a wonderful down valley view of
Thimphu and Tashichhodzong. Visit the silversmiths
at the north end of the valley. Overnight at Hotel.

04 |
Thimphu - Tongsa
The journey to Central Bhutan begins today. The
drive to Tongsa takes approximately 7 to 8 hrs.
Packed lunch will be provided. Lunch stop at
Chendebji Chorten. Overnight at Tourist lodge.

05 |
Tongsa - Bumthang
Drive to Jakar takes approx. 2 1/2 hrs. Tales of the
great teacher Guru PadmaSambhava dominates this holy
valley. From the view point you can see Jakar Dzong
"Castle of the White Bird". Lunch at Tourist lodge.
Afternoon hike up to Lame Gompa, a place built by
the 1st king for his two nun sisters, outside of
Lame Gompa one can see old style of Bhutanese paper
making. Overnight at tourist lodge. |

06 |
Bumthang - Nganglhakhang
The Trek route follows the Chamkharchu. Lunch stop
at Thangbi Lhakhang - then enter the "Swan Land" (Ngang
Yul) with its center "Swan temple" (Nganglhangkhang).
This part of the valley was at first inhabited only
by swans who gave their name (Ngang) to the place.
O/N in Camp. Alt. 9500 ft. Distance - 20 KMS about 5
hrs. |

07 |
Nganglhakhang - Ugyenchholing
Climb gradually to Phephela pass alt. 3353m/11000ft.
The trial until the pass leads through one of the
most beautiful forested areas of this region.
Allowing for many stops to enjoy natures beauty.
O/N in camp. alt. 9300ft. Distance - 23 KMS about
7/8 hrs. |

08 |
Ugyenchholing - Phokpey
Climb through bamboo, hemlock and finally up to the
alpine forest. Overnight in camp. Alt. 11,500 ft.
Distance - 17 KMS about 5/6 hours. |

09 |
Phokpey - Ungar
Continue upto Phokpeyla pass alt. 12,300 ft. Which
takes about 1/2 an hour, then continue downhill
through the gorge. Distance - 20 KMS about 6/7
hours. |

10 |
Ungar - Taskila
This trial winds up and down passing Drula village,
and Khaine Lhakhang, one of the oldest in existence
built in the mid 7 century A.D. by the 1st King of
Tibet Tsong Tsen Gampo to subdue a demon. Alt. 6000
ft. Distance 21 KMS about 6/7 hours. |

11 |
Taskila - Lhuntshi
Drive up to Lhuntshi Guest house for lunch. After
lunch at leisure. Overnight in Guest House or camp.
Alt. 6000 ft. |

12 |
Lhuntshi - Menji
Drive down to Kuri Zam and trek starts gradually up
through the paddy fields and villages. Overnight in
camp. Distance - 16 KMS about 4/5 hours. Alt. 6000
ft. |

13 |
Menji - Pemi
Continue up through thick forests, overlooking
mountain views. Camp under the shelter of the forest
alt. cir 8000 ft. Distance -20 KMS about 6/7 hrs. |

14 |
Pemi - Taupang
Continue upto Dongla from where you can see all the
high mountains. Descending through the thick
evergreen forest till campsite. Alt. 8000 ft.
Distance - 21 KMS about 6/7 hours. |

15 |
Taupang - Yangtsi
An early start for the last and longest day on the
trek. Descend gradually till Yangtsi through
Chirpine and hardwood forest. Overnight in camp.
Distance - 24 KMS about 8/9 hrs. |

16 |
Tashi Yangtse to Trashigang
Drive to Trashigang and visit around it. |

17 |
Trashigang to Bumthang
Drive to Bumthang. |

18 |
Bumthang to Thimphu
Drive to Thimphu. |

19 |
Thimphu to Paro
Drive to Paro International Airport and then fly to
Kathmandu/Bangkok. |
