 Itinerary of Lunana Snowman Trek In Detail
 

Day 01

Kathmandu to Paro Fly

Day 02

Paro - Shana
Drive upto Drugyel Dzong where the road ends and the Trek begins, following the river gently uphill through a narrowing agricultural valley and village houses. Camp is just beyond an army post. (Alt. 2800M), Distance - 17 KMS about 5/6 hours.

Day 03

Shana - Soi thangthangkha
Continue uphill through the river valley. It narrows and closes in and the trial winds up and down along the drainage. Camp is in a meadow with stone shelters BTCL has built for trekkers.

Day 04

Soi thangthangkha - Jangothang
On up the Pa Chu, pass a small army post where the valley begins to widen again. Now views of high ridges and then snow-capped peaks are all around. You may begin to see Yak herders winter homes. Camp beneath a ruined fortress at the base of Chomolhari. (Alt. 4040M), Distance - 19 KMS about 5/6 hours.

Day 05

Jangothang - Lingshi
Wide Yak pastures on the way up and down the pass, possible to see some nomads in their Yak tents depending on the time of year you are there. Great views of Lingshi Dzong as you come down into the Lingshi basin if the weather's clear. Tserim Gang and its descending glaciers at the north end of the valley. Camp is in a stone shelter or in tent. (Alt. 4150M), Distance - 19 KMS about 5/6 hours.

Day 06

Lingshi - Chebisa
Today is the shortest walking day and you can really take it easy. On reaching camp at Chebisa village you can also visit the village houses. (Alt. 3850M), Distance - 12 KMS about 5/6 hours.

Day 07

Chebisa - Shomuthang
The walk is through wild high pastures. Cross Gohula (La means Pass). (Alt.14268ft/4358m), camp on a bench above a river, a tributary to the Mo Chu which flows out just below Gasa Tsachu (hot spring). (Alt.4260M), Distance - 17 KMS about 6 hours.

Day 08

Shomuthang - Robluthang
An early start . After crossing Jarela pass (alt. 15088ft/4600m), you drop to Tsharijathang the valley where herds of Takin are normally seen. Over night in camp. (Alt.14400ft). Distance - 15 KMS about 5Hrs.

Day 09

Robluthang - Laya
After crossing Shingela pass (alt. 16072ft/ 4900m), you descend again and then follow the valley. Lenithang is in Laya district. You begin to see the cheerful children in their funny hats. The trial splits, one going down following the river. The other stays high leading to the west side of Laya village. Overnight at camp. (Alt.1268ft). Distance - 29 KMS about 7/8 hours.

Day 10

Laya - halt
Visit village houses or hike in and around the camp.

Day 11

Laya - Roduphu
Distance - 19 KMS about 6/7 hours. (Alt.13645ft/4160m). Overnight in camp.

Day 12

Roduphu - Narithang
Distance - 17 KMS about 5/6 hours.Cross Tsimola pass. (Alt.13420ft/4220m). Overnight in camp.

Day 13

Narithang - Tarina
Distance - 18 KMS about 6/7 hours. Cross Ganglakarchungla (16720/5100m). Overnight in camp.

Day 14

Tarina - Woche
Distance - 15 KMS about 5 hours. On arrival at camp visit a village house of Woche. The Lunana area begins here. Overnight in camp.

Day 15

Woche - Lhedi
Distance 19 KMS about 6/7 hours. Cross Kechela pass (15015ft/4550m.) Stop at Thega village enroute. Overnight in camp.

Day 16

Lhedi - thanza
Distance 19 KMS about 5/6 hours. (Alt. 1328ft/4050m). Enroute visit Chezo Dzong. Overnight in camp.

Day 17

Thanza - Halt
Visit village houses and mingle with the people of Thanza. Or hike in and around the camp. Overnight in camp.

Day 18

Thanza - Tshochena
Distance 18 KMS about 6/7 hours. (Alt. 15744ft/4800m). Cross Jazela pass (alt.16564ft/5050m). Overnight in camp.

Day 19

Tshochena - Jichu dramo
Distance 14 KMS about 4/5 hours. (Alt.16006ft/4880m). Cross Lojula pass alt. (16203ft/4940m). Overnight in camp.

Day 20

Jichu Dramo - Chukarpo
Distance 15 Kms about 3/6 hours. (Alt.14731ft). Cross Rinchenzoe pass (alt.16859ft./5140m). Overnight in camp.

Day 21

Chukarppo - Tampetso
Distance 20 kms about 7/8 hours. ( Alt.13895ft). Cross Tamplela pass (alt,15015ft/4550m). Pass the Umtso lake in which religious treasures were discovered by Terton Pemalingpa. Overnight in camp.

Day 22

Tampetso - Maorothang
Today the trek is all the way down hill through Rhododendron bushes till you reach camp. The camp is near the Nikka Chu river. Overnight in camp. (Alt.11844ft). Distance - 14 kms about 5 hours.

Day 23

Maorothang - Nikkachu Chazam
Distance 23 kms about 6/7 hours. (Alt.8692ft/2650m). Today is your last day work. The trial passes through the fields villages of Sephu. Overnight in camp.

Day 24

Nikachu - Thimphu
Early morning drive to Thimphu. Overnight in Hotel.

Day 25

Thimphu to Paro (distance 65 km, 2 hours drive)
Sight seeing in Thimphu. Sightseeing includes visits to the late king's memorial chorten, the Textile Museum, the Heritage Museum, the silversmiths and pottery workshops, and possibly the National Library.

Day 26

Paro to Kathmandu Fly
Drive to Paro International Airport and then fly to Kathmandu.
